Description
The U.S. Coast Guard inspects and oversees facilities under the regulations found in 33 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations).This facility security plan describes the methods, procedures and measures to be used by a company in order to establish security measures and prevent loss, damage or compromise of assets and interruption to business activities.
The new definition of "facility" has been expanded to include:
- Barge fleeting facilities that receive barges carrying combustible or flammable liquid cargo in bulk.
- Certain dangerous cargo and certain bulk dangerous cargo.
- Facilities that receive vessels that carry more than 150 passengers.
- Facilities that receive vessels, (U.S. and foreign), that are subject to SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea).
- Facilities that receive cargo vessels greater than 100 gross tons on international voyages, including the Great Lakes.
